5. Missions
|
NS:CO ships with five basic mission scenarios and a
sixth complex scenario where two or more of the other five
can be integrated. Every NS:CO map has a Mission Brief that
details the mission for each team when the map first loads,
the mission brief can be recalled at any time by pressing
"".

5.1 Modes Of Operation
|
The objectives in Operations Mode depend on your team and
are specific to the map. The NS:CO source allows Level
Designers to create nearly any scenario imaginable, however
the basic scenarios detailed below comprise most NS:CO
Operations Missions at this time.
Bombing/Defuse Scenario (BOMB)
In
this scenario one team has to bomb one or more
designated targets; the bomb has to be placed and a
timer set. The opposing team has to prevent bomb
placement, or defuse the bomb before it detonates if it
is successfully placed. NS:CO has a very cool and
sophisticated Bomb Defuse Kit that is automatically part
of your load-out when you equip with Technical experience of
2 or more.
For detailed instructions see the Bomb Defuse Kit entry
of the 4.5 Special Equipment
section of this Manual
VIP Secure Scenario (VIP-S)
One team has a VIP that one has to survive the round. The
opposing team is tasked with assassinating the VIP
within the time limit. The appearance of the VIP
depends on the map, team he is assigned to and mission. The VIP is
is only equipped with a IMI Desert Eagle or Smith &
Wesson 629 and can not pick up or use any other weapons.
VIP Rescue Scenario (VIP-R)
This scenario is similar to the VIP-S scenario, but instead of keeping the VIP alive for
some time he now has to be escorted to one or multiple points to survive. The opposing
team has to prevent the VIP to reach this point.
Information Retrieval Scenario (INFO)
Somewhat similar to classic CTF;
one team has to retrieve one or more
briefcases from the enemy base and bring them back to a
designated recovery target or area. The opposing team has to prevent
the case from being stolen and recovered. Typically the team
defending the briefcases will not be able to pick them
up or move them; the current exception is missions where
there is a VIP who can pick up, move and drop the case.
Assault Scenario (ASSAULT)
One of the teams must reach designated areas on the map
and loiter and control them for a pre-defined amount of time in order to claim them.
To loiter and control an assault field only friendlies
may be in the designated area. As soon
as a member of the opposing force enters the field the
clock is reset the area must be cleared of hostiles to
restart the clock. Maps may have one or several assault
fields that must be claimed
Combined Missions (COMPLEX)
Combined Missions integrate multiple mission elements, for example
combining VIP-S & INFO on the Neighborhood map where the Tango team has a VIP and
document case, and the VIP can both move and hide the case; The SEAL Team must
assassinate the VIP and recover the case to their extraction point.
