26th November 2006 - The state of NS:CO gold and TM

And once again this website went for a long time without any real news. Let's remedy this fact, even though I don't bring the best of news.

First things first.

The game development team called Team Mirage is defunct. As are it's two projects Silent Risk and Navy Seals: Covert Operations gold.

Our ambitious projects fell short due to a lack of progress, resulting from a shortage of talented members and overwhelming real life obligations. Even long standing team members had to leave and so the team eventually degraded and stopped making any progress.

A definite lack of communication for at least a quarter to half a year has eventually forced me to acknowledge this sad fact.

As mentioned before, the two projects are defunct. Silent Risk was too ambitious for the team's capabilities and even though we acquired a few talented people to help out during development, it wasn't enough to make the game go anywhere. The project is put on indefinite hold. Maybe it will see the light of day in the future, but from the current side of things this is quite unlikely.

NS:CO gold hasn't made any progress in about half a year either. While we can make no promises, we (that is the meager rest of Team Mirage: N'kEnNy, Defcon-X and me, Democritus) are currently considering giving it a last shot during christmas time and then release whatever we have finished. This release might possibly even be Open Source but we still have to talk about this.

Now having said all this I also want to apologize to all of you who had such high hopes for our team and projects. It is a sad day to have to come and realize this but I'm nevertheless thankful for everyone who joined us in our endeavors.

This includes our many fans who to this day frequent our messageboard and who enjoyed many fun filled hours with our games. Thanks also go to all the talented people who were a part of Team Mirage and it's projects, who became friends and buddies, and who helped build a great game while still having tons of fun. I especially want to mention - in no special order - the following people, who all contributed their fair share to NS:CO the way it is today:
mIc, Slinky, Cyte, Scrutch, BenB, Gate, talonlzr, hoak, real_man, Rattler, gtk, Ogun, VorpalDoom and many many more.

Thank you. I loved every minute with Team Mirage.

22nd February 2006 - Gold GUI & Silent Risk

Hello everyone once again,

Sorry for the long delay between website updates but working on two projects in your spare time can be a lot of work. However that work pays off and we have a couple of things to show to you today.

Silent Risk - The Future of Covert Warfare
The website to our new project called Silent Risk (previously announced as ProjectSR) is finally launched. The game is a multiplayer action game set in a near future world of constant conflict. Highly trained and well equipped soldiers engage in Covert Warfare all over the world. Visit www.silentrisk.com for some more glimpses into the game.

The project is still young and in an early stage of development. We at Team Mirage are looking for talented individuals of all areas to help out with the creation of this game. If you are interested, please visit the team page of Silent Risk website to find out more.

NAVY SEALS: covert operations (Gold Edition)
Aside from working Silent Risk, some members of TM are also working hard on NS:CO gold. We are not only improving the gameplay and the general visual quality of NS:CO we have also decided to totally redo the User Interface. This will make it easier for new players and veterans alike to navigate and modify the game. Great attention is also given to making the User Interface explain the different game mechanics of NS:CO to new users so that the reading of a manual is not longer a requirement to be successful ingame.

The visual concept and design was created by Beren Baumgartner and all further work and implementation is done by my brother Manfred 'Defcon-x' Nerurkar and me, Martin 'Democritus' Nerurkar. Be aware that this is a work-in-progress and that some details (like the background in the second screenshot for example) are still subject to change.

If you have helpful comments on the old NS:CO user interface, then don't hesitate to let us know what we can improve in our forum.
Also note that there's another Clash of the Titans on 26. February. Check out our forum for details on this.

Thanks again everyone.

23rd November 2005 - NS:CO Gold and COTT

Hello everyone. It had been quite a long time without any real news but now we have something interesting for you.

With the release of Quake 3 Open Source a few months ago we have developed the plan to release a stand alone build of Navy SEALs: Covert Operations that will run without Quake 3: arena altogether. This project is called NS:CO Gold and might also include some improvements to the game itself. We are also looking at improving the visual quality of NS:CO by improving textures and skins. We feel that this both NS:CO and it's fans will profit from this development.

However NS:CO Gold is a side-project for Team Mirage as we still focus on ProjectSR, our current title. This is why we can neither give you a release date nor a precise feature list at the current date. Development is already well underway with a lot of original Quake 3 textures already having been replaced to not infringe the copyrights of id software.

If you have any ideas and suggestions about NS:CO Gold we would love to hear them. Simply log on to our forum and let us know what you think. To get the project up to speed we are also on the lookout for talent in both Quake 3 game programming and 2d/3d art. If you are interested, then please let us know at jobs@team-mirage.net

With that said I also want to inform you about the Clash of the Titans match that will happen on the 27th of November at 19:00 GMT. See this thread on our forum for further information.

Thanks again everyone.

14th August 2005 - COTT and WorkLAN2

Hello fans,

Firstoff we'd like to thank everyone for participating in the Clash of the Titan match on Saturday. It was an excellent and entertaining game of Navy SEALs. We hope to be able to hold another one of those wonderful games again in the future.

In addition it might be interesting for our fans to know that Team Mirage has met up for a WorkLAN this weekend. This was our second meeting held to concentrate on the development of our next game, ProjectSR. As you can see below we've had a lot of fun meeting up.

Thanks again everyone.
